Actions , belief update , and DDL ∗

چکیده
Two prominent topics in Krister Segerberg’s works are, on the one hand, actions, and on the other hand, belief change. Both topics are connected in multiple ways; one of these connections is via KGM belief update, since, as we argue, belief update is a specific case of feedback-free action progression. We discuss the links between update and action, and, starting from Segerberg’s works, discuss further other possible interpretations of belief update, its differences with AGM belief revision, and why it is interesting to develop further KGM-based Dynamic Doxastic

DDL as an “Internalization” of Dynamic Belief Revision
In this paper we re-evaluate Segerberg’s “full DDL” (Dynamic Doxastic Logic) from the perspective of Dynamic Epistemic Logic (DEL), in its beliefrevision-friendly incarnation. We argue that a correct version of full DDL must give up the Success Postulate for dynamic revision. Next, we present (an appropriately generalized and simplified version of) full DDL, showing that it is a generalization ...
متن کاملIterated Belief Change: A Transition System Approach
We use a transition system approach to reason about the evolution of an agent’s beliefs as actions are executed. Some actions cause an agent to perform belief revision and some actions cause an agent to perform belief update, but the interaction between revision and update can be nonelementary. We present a set of basic postulates describing the interaction of revision and update, and we introd...
متن کاملStrategies for Belief Revision
This paper is a contribution to dynamic doxastic logic (DDL), that is, doxastic logic supplemented with operators for belief change due to new information. Thus in addition to operators for belief (B) and doxastic commitment (K) we also have, for each pure Boolean formula φ, a propositional operator [∗φ] with the informal reading “after the agent has come to believe that φ and revised his belie...
متن کاملIterated Belief Change Due to Actions and Observations
In action domains where agents may have erroneous beliefs, reasoning about the effects of actions involves reasoning about belief change. In this paper, we use a transition system approach to reason about the evolution of an agent’s beliefs as actions are executed. Some actions cause an agent to perform belief revision while others cause an agent to perform belief update, but the interaction be...
متن کاملExtend Atomic Action Definitions of DDL to Support Occlusions and Conditional Post-conditions
The dynamic description logic DDL provides a kind of action theories based on description logics (DLs). Compared with another important DL-based action formalism constructed by Baader et.al., a shortcoming of DDL is the absence of occlusions and conditional postconditions in the description of atomic actions. In this paper, we extend atomic action definitions of DDL to overcome this limitation....
